Long, long ago, in a wilderness far, far away…
there was a lonely cañon…
in which people built a hydroelectric dam,
creating an attractive, controlled environment for tourism,
drawing families of all sorts
for the scenery,
for the adventure,
and for the fishing
before taking the train back home.
All these photos were part of a batch purchased at auction in AD 2011, and stamped on the back from a pair of processing labs – Bell's Studio, and the Picture Shop – in Casper, Wyo., and, if the license tag behind the fish is any indication, were taken during the spring of 1926, in the Yellowstone River canyon.
There were no names or other identifying marks on the backs of the photos.
