Abbot and Costello, the Early Years (and other bits of made-up history)

"I'm a baaaad boy…"

I honestly have no idea who these youngsters were, but then, does anybody really know anybody else?

Still, I'd bet even their mother thought they bore more than a passing resemblance to:

(image stolen from the internet)

Unless their mother's attention was too wrapped up in getting her hair to do this.

Don't be annoyed with me. I can't help myself.

All photos except for the actual one of Abbot and Costello are from my pile of auction finds, and are unmarked with identification, other than the occasional studio imprint.

If you like what you see, please feel free to copy/share.

Roaring Twenties

All these snapshots were in the bundle I bought at auction with pix developed in Casper, Wyoming. I don't know if they're from the same trip, but I believe they are, many of them, the same people, and dated from 1926, 1927, & 1929.

There were close to 100 photos in that collection. I intend to share them all, in small bunches.

Assuming you know as much about them as I do, don't worry  – just make them an imaginary part of your family, and tell your own stories around them, today.

Click any image to embiggen, and please, copy/share if you like what you see.

Hiding behind the hollyhocks

Looking a little sheepish…

Among the spring flowers, the boy on the right is not particularly impressed with the plans for the Easter pageant

The Fishing Trip

Long, long ago, in a wilderness far, far away…

there was a lonely cañon…

in which people built a hydroelectric dam,

creating an attractive, controlled environment for tourism,

drawing families of all sorts

for the scenery,

for the adventure,

and for the fishing

before taking the train back home.

All these photos were part of a batch purchased at auction in AD 2011, and stamped on the back from a pair of processing labs – Bell's Studio, and the Picture Shop – in Casper, Wyo., and, if the license tag behind the fish is any indication, were taken during the spring of 1926, in the Yellowstone River canyon.

There were no names or other identifying marks on the backs of the photos.

Shore is purty (a postcard)

Breezy point –– Walker, Mi(?) (could be "Minn.")

Looks less breezy, more rocky, but that's just my view....

In case you're offended by my opinion, here are a couple of cats on a chair

and a 1966 snapshot of an old logging tractor (click to embiggen, and check out the car in the background, for scale)
